Wood Globe Pendant Light, 60cm

A wooden globe, 60 cm across and 28 cm deep, built from curved timber sections. At that width it is a substantial fitting with real presence, and the globe form means it reads the same from every angle with no back to hide, which matters in an open-plan room where it will be seen from all sides.

Two finishes are offered and they suit different rooms. Natural is pale and warm and reads as Scandinavian, sitting with linen, white plaster and light timber. Dark natural is deeper and richer and holds its own against strong colours, dark cabinetry and older wood. Both are available hardwired for a permanent installation or as a plug-in with a cable and in-line switch, which makes them straightforward for renters. Light escapes between the timber sections as well as through the base, so the globe glows along its seams and casts a banded pattern onto the ceiling and the walls around it.

Wood is a natural material, so grain and tone vary between sections and between pieces, and no two globes are identical. Bulb is not included; energy-saving LED or incandescent bulbs of 60 W or less are recommended, and a bulb that runs cool should be used and kept clear of the timber. Hardwired installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
