Blue Diamond Weave Rattan Pendant

Natural rattan mixed with wicker and woven in a classic blue diamond pattern, in a shape that is deliberately organic rather than perfectly symmetrical. Coloured weave is unusual in rattan, and it is what makes this piece work as a decorative element rather than only a textural one: the diamond pattern reads clearly from across a room.

Blue and natural is the combination that puts it firmly in coastal territory, and it suits an eclectic interior where a plain natural shade would be too quiet. Three sizes are offered at 40, 50 and 60 cm. The 40 cm works over a bedside, a hallway or a smaller dining table; 50 cm is the everyday choice over a dining table or a kitchen island; 60 cm has the scale to be the focal point of a living room. In all three the open weave lets light out sideways as well as down, so the blue diamonds are picked out on the ceiling and walls as well as on the shade itself.

Rattan is a natural, eco-friendly material, and colour, grain and weave vary between pieces, so no two shades are identical. Bulb is not included; use a bulb that runs cool, keep it clear of the weave and do not fit a high-wattage bulb in a natural-fibre shade. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
