Postmodern Sputnik Multi-Light Pendant

Metal arms extending in different directions from a central body, each carrying a glass shade, in the classic sputnik arrangement. The arms are set at deliberately varied angles rather than in a regular pattern, which is what gives the fitting its postmodern character: it looks assembled with intent rather than machined to a formula.

Four configurations are offered. Nine lights suits a dining table or a mid-sized living room. Twelve covers a larger dining room. Fifteen and eighteen are centrepieces for a big living room, an entrance hall or a stairwell with the height to carry them. Spreading the sources this widely is what makes the style work as a main light: instead of one bright pool below the fitting, the room is lit from many points at once, so the corners are reached and the shadows are soft. Each arm takes a modest bulb rather than a powerful one, which keeps the light even across the whole piece.

Glass is finished individually, so slight variation between shades is normal. Bulbs are not included; do not exceed the maximum wattage marked on the fitting for each arm. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician, and the ceiling fixing must be rated for the full weight and span of the chandelier in the larger configurations.
