The shape is borrowed from a wide-brimmed straw hat, but the shade itself is moulded resin with a smooth matte finish, so you get the relaxed Mediterranean silhouette without any woven fibre to dust or fray. The curved brim is what gives this Nolle Desing pendant its character: it flares out gently and then turns down at the edge, which softens the light and hides the bulb from anyone sitting below.
Two diameters are available, 40 cm and 60 cm. The smaller size suits a bedside, a hallway or a narrow breakfast bar, while the 60 cm version is generous enough to anchor a full dining table or a kitchen island on its own. Three finishes are offered, in natural, white and grey, all of them easy to live with against pale walls, wood and stone. Hung low over a table it gives a warm, contained pool of light rather than a bright wash.
Each shade is cast and hand-finished, so slight variation in tone and surface is normal. Bulb not included. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician, and the ceiling fixing must be rated for the weight and diameter of the fitting.
