Layered Wavy Pleated Fabric Pendant

A drum shade rebuilt as a series of layered pleats with a wavy edge, so what would normally be a plain cylinder becomes a piece of soft geometry. The pleats are tucked rather than gathered, which keeps the lines precise, and the waved edge stops the shade from reading as rigid.

Three sizes and two colours are offered. At 50 by 30 cm it works over a bedside, a hallway or a smaller dining table. At 60 by 35 cm it is the everyday choice over a dining table or in a living room. At 80 by 43 cm it becomes a genuine centrepiece and needs a large table or an open-plan space to sit properly. White is the crisper option and reflects the most light; beige is warmer and softens the light further as it passes through. In all sizes the pleating does something a flat shade cannot: light escapes at slightly different intensities along each fold, so the shade has depth and texture rather than a single even glow.

Fabric is pleated by hand, so the fall of the pleats varies slightly between pieces and may settle after hanging. Bulb is not included; use a bulb that runs cool, keep it clear of the fabric and do not fit a high-wattage bulb. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician, and the ceiling fixing must be rated for the weight of the fitting.
