Coloured glass panels cut and leaded into a geometric arrangement by hand, mounted as a flush fitting. Stained glass does something no printed or tinted shade can: each panel transmits its own colour, so the light that reaches the room is genuinely multi-coloured, and the colours land on the ceiling and walls as well as falling downwards.
The design draws on vintage and mid-century leaded work, where the pattern is geometric rather than pictorial, which is why it sits comfortably in a modern room as well as a period one. It works best where people will actually look at it: a hallway, a landing, a stairwell, above a stair turn, or in a small dining room or study. In a room with plain white walls it supplies all the colour the space needs on its own. Because it is a flush fitting there is no drop, so it can go in a room with a low ceiling where a leaded pendant would be out of the question.
Each panel is cut, coloured and leaded by hand, so colour, texture and the exact line of the leading vary between pieces and no two fittings are identical. Bulb is not included. Handle with care during installation, as leaded glass is fragile. Intended for indoor use in dry locations only. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
