Large Wicker Farmhouse Pendant Light

This is a large shade, and the size is doing two jobs at once. The first is decorative: a big woven basket overhead gives a room a boho, rustic centre and a romantic quality that a small fixture cannot produce, regardless of how well it is made. The second is practical, and it is the more interesting of the two.

A large shade has a large bottom opening, which means it delivers plenty of usable light downward even while the weave is throwing dramatic shadows across the ceiling and walls. Small woven pendants usually have to choose between the two: either they are dense and atmospheric, or open and bright. At this scale you get the shadow show and a properly lit table underneath.

It decorates almost any room, which at this size is a genuine claim rather than a hedge; a large plain wicker shade does not commit the space to a particular style beyond warmth, so it survives being redecorated around. Bulb not included; a warm white LED deepens the shadows and keeps the fibre golden. Indoor use only, since wicker takes up moisture and softens over time. Dust it with a dry soft brush, working around the shade rather than across it.
