Gold Frosted Glass Flower Ceiling Light

The shade is shaped as a flower, moulded in frosted glass so the petals catch and hold the light rather than transmitting it directly. Frosting is the reason this works: a clear flower shade would show the bulb through every petal and lose the shape entirely, while a frosted one lights up as a single glowing form with the petals still readable.

The light that comes out is diffused and harmonious rather than directional, which is why it suits a hallway or a bedroom better than a dining table. There is no glare and no hard shadow, so you can walk under it or lie beneath it without the source ever being uncomfortable, and the whole room lifts evenly rather than in one bright patch.

The gold finish on the fitting is the vintage half of the design; the simplified petal geometry is the modern half. Together they make a fixture that reads as elegant rather than fussy, and it is at home in a bedroom, a living room, a kitchen or a hallway. Bulb not included; a warm white LED suits frosted glass. Indoor use. Wipe with a soft dry cloth.
