Positioned beside an armchair or the end of a sofa, the shade can be angled over a shoulder onto a page, which is exactly what a fixed floor lamp fails to do. Two finishes are offered. Matte black is graphic and industrial and holds its own against concrete, steel and dark timber. Antique brass is warmer and more traditional, sitting well with leather, walnut and period rooms. Both are built from metal throughout rather than metal-effect plastic, which is what gives them the weight to stay put when the shade is angled out.
Bulb is not included. Stand the lamp on a level, firm surface where it cannot be knocked over, and take care when the shade is angled far to one side, as this shifts the centre of gravity. Route the cable so it is not a trip hazard, and keep the shade clear of curtains and other fabrics.
