The weave is traditional, worked by hand in the way bamboo has always been worked rather than pressed into a mould. That shows in the surface: the strips are consistent but not identical, and the shade carries small variations that catch light differently around its circumference. Nothing manufactured looks quite like it, and nothing manufactured ages the same way either.

Bamboo is fast-growing and renewable, and it is light, so a shade this size adds almost nothing to the weight of the lamp. Bulbs are not included, for safety in shipping; energy-saving LED or incandescent bulbs of 60 W or less are recommended. Indoor use only, since bamboo absorbs moisture and will lose its shape in a damp room. Dust with a dry soft brush, working along the strips.
