Square Wood LED Ceiling Light

A square wood frame with the light set within it, in three sizes from 45 to 55 cm. Square rather than round is the decision that shapes the whole piece: an angular fitting aligns with the geometry of a room, so it sits properly over a rectangular table, centred in a square room, or squared up to a hallway, in a way a circle never quite does.

Natural wood keeps it warm. A square metal or acrylic panel of the same proportions would read as institutional; timber gives the fitting grain, tone and a hand-made quality, and it is the single element that makes a strictly minimalist design feel domestic. Three sizes are offered at 45, 50 and 55 cm, which is a narrow range by design: this is a fitting sized for a normal room rather than a grand one. The 45 cm suits a bedroom or a hallway, the 50 cm a mid-sized living room or a dining table, and the 55 cm a larger living space.

Wood is a natural material, so grain and tone vary between pieces and no two fittings are identical. Bulb is not included; energy-saving LED or incandescent bulbs of 60 W or less are recommended, and a bulb that runs cool should be used and kept clear of the timber. Intended for indoor use in dry locations only. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
