Bamboo Sphere Pendant Light, 55cm
A woven bamboo sphere, a full 55 cm in both directions. A true sphere is the hardest form to make in a woven material and the most rewarding, because it reads identically from every angle and there is no back to hide, which matters in a room where the fitting is seen from all sides.
At 55 cm it is a substantial piece with real presence, large enough to be the focal point of a dining room or a living room rather than an accent. Light escapes in every direction through the weave, so the sphere glows as an object in the room and the woven pattern lands on the ceiling, the walls and the floor rather than only on the surface below. That fills a space in a way a downward-facing shade never does. The natural bamboo tone sits with linen, pale timber, terracotta and white plaster, and gives a plain modern room the warmth it usually lacks.
Available hardwired for a permanent installation or as a plug-in with a cable and in-line switch. Bamboo is a natural material, so colour, grain and weave vary between pieces. Bulb is not included; energy-saving LED or incandescent bulbs of 60 W or less are recommended, and a bulb that runs cool should be used and kept clear of the weave.
