Lacquered Metal Pendant Lamp

A shiny lacquered metal shade in a plain industrial form, offered in three clear colours. Lacquer rather than a matte powder coat is the choice that defines it: the surface reflects, so the shade picks up the light and the colours in the room around it and reads as considerably brighter than a flat finish would.

Colour is the whole decision. Green is the confident one and gives a plain kitchen or dining room its single point of interest. Orange is warmer and more retro, sitting well with timber and brass. White is the neutral, letting the shape carry the piece on its own while still catching light along the curve. Because the shade is solid metal and open at the base, all the light goes straight down, which makes this genuine task lighting over a table, a counter or a desk rather than a decorative object. It works singly over a small table and in a row of two or three over a longer surface.

Bulb is not included. Because the shade is open at the bottom, a frosted bulb is more comfortable to sit beneath than a clear one, and a bulb that runs cool should be used in a metal shade. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician, and the ceiling fixing must be rated for the weight of the fitting.
