A small round shade woven from bamboo into a nest-like structure, where the strands cross rather than run parallel and the surface reads as a tangle instead of a regular basket. At 35 cm across it is one of the more modest fixtures you can hang and still have it register as a design choice, which makes it useful in rooms where a large pendant would simply be too much.
The irregular weave is what gives it its character at night. Light escapes in every direction through gaps of different sizes, so instead of the neat repeating pattern a regular basket weave produces, the ceiling and walls pick up a scattered, organic shadow with no obvious repeat. It is warmer and less formal than a symmetrical shade, and it sits easily in farmhouse, coastal and rustic rooms.
Use it over a small dining table, above a kitchen sink, in a hallway, or in a row of three along a breakfast bar, where the small diameter lets you group them without crowding the ceiling. Bulb not included; a warm white LED brings out the straw tone of the bamboo. Indoor use only. Dust with a dry soft brush and keep it away from steam and damp, which will soften the weave.
