Stained glass panels set into a lantern frame, and the panels are what you are buying. Coloured glass does not simply tint the light passing through it; it changes what lands on the surfaces around the fixture, so a cognac lantern throws warm amber patches onto a wall and a green one throws green ones. It is closer to a small window than to a shade.
Three models are offered in five size and shape combinations, from a tall slim 13 x 32 cm through to a wide 30 x 28 cm. Model A is the narrowest and best in a group; Model B is the mid-size and the most generally useful; Model C is the widest and works alone over a table. Cognac, smoke grey, green and milky white are the four glass options, though milky white is not offered in every size.
The lantern shape and the coloured panels together give an unmistakably vintage character, but the fixture itself is modern in its wiring and its construction.
