A bowl rather than a dome or a drum: shallow, wide, and open upward as well as down, so the shade curves up from its base rather than hanging over it. That inversion changes the light entirely. Instead of directing everything downward, a bowl throws a good part of it up onto the ceiling, which then reflects back into the room as a soft, indirect fill.
The practical result is a room that is evenly lit rather than spot-lit, with no hard shadow under the fixture and no bright cone on the table. In a kitchen, a dining room or a living room used for several things at once, that is usually the more comfortable arrangement, and it is a different job from what most of the woven pendants around it are doing.
Three diameters are offered, 40, 50 and 60 cm, each in a hardwired or plug-in version. Because the shade is shallow, even the largest is manageable under a standard ceiling. Bulbs are not included, since they travel badly; energy-saving LED or incandescent bulbs of 60 W or less are recommended. Indoor use only. Dust the inside of the bowl as well as the outside, dry.
