A rattan globe wall light does the job of a picture and a lamp at the same time. The shade is woven from fine bamboo strips into a rounded mushroom cap that sits close to the wall, so it lights a hallway or a bedside without stealing floor space or elbow room. At 32 cm across and 26 cm deep it reads as a proper design object on a bare wall, and the open weave keeps it visually light rather than bulky.
Because the light passes through the weave instead of bouncing off a solid shade, the wall behind picks up a soft halo and the room gets a warm, low-glare wash rather than a hard spot. Two finishes are available: natural white rattan, which suits pale walls, linen and light oak, and black, which reads graphic against white plaster or exposed brick. Both keep the same Japandi silhouette, so a pair either side of a bed still looks matched.
Fit it beside a bed as a reading light, in a hallway where a table lamp has nowhere to sit, or in a stairwell as a series. Bulbs are not included; energy-saving LED or incandescent bulbs of 60 W or less are recommended, and a warm 2700K bulb flatters the natural fibre. Indoor use only. Dust the weave with a soft dry brush and keep it out of bathrooms and other damp rooms.
