Rattan Vintage Umbrella Pendant
An umbrella profile: very wide, very shallow, and gently domed rather than flat. At 57 x 22 cm and 80 x 30 cm, both sizes are more than twice as wide as they are deep, which is what gives the fixture its name and what makes it useful in a room where ceiling height is limited but floor area is not.
That shape spreads light rather than concentrating it. Rather than a defined pool below, you get a broad, even wash reaching well beyond the diameter of the shade itself, with the weave printing a wide radial pattern on the ceiling around it. In a living room or a large dining room, that fills the space more evenly than a deep shade would.
The 80 cm is a genuinely large fixture and needs a room to match; the 57 cm suits a standard dining table or a hallway. Both are available hardwired or plug-in. Bulbs are not included, since they travel badly with a woven shade; use an energy-saving LED or incandescent bulb of 60 W or less. Indoor use only. Dust the underside as well as the top, dry.
