40 cm wide and 43 cm tall, so very slightly taller than it is broad: a proportion that reads as upright without becoming a column. The shade is worked in rope rather than fine reed, which gives it thicker, more visible coils and a heavier presence than a rattan weave of the same dimensions would have. Retro is the right description; it is not a delicate object.
That thickness changes the light. Thick coils block more than thin strands, so more of the output goes straight down through the open base and less escapes sideways, giving a warmer, more contained pool and a darker ceiling. In a bedroom or a living room used mainly in the evening, that is the effect most people are actually after.
Two finishes are offered. Natural keeps the rope pale and rustic; black turns the same coils into a graphic form and sits better against dark walls or joinery. Both come hardwired or plug-in at the same price. Bulb not included; energy-saving LED or incandescent bulbs of 60 W or less are recommended. Indoor use only. Dust with a dry soft brush.
