Apple Shaped Metal Pendant Light

A metal shade drawn as a simplified apple, with the rounded body and the small stem at the top reduced to their essentials. It is a piece of gentle wit rather than a novelty: nothing is exaggerated, there is no leaf or face or colour trick, and from a distance it reads simply as a well-shaped rounded pendant.

Two sizes and two finishes are offered. At 25 cm it is a compact fitting for a bedside, a hallway or a breakfast bar, and a row of three over an island is where it looks best at that size. At 35 cm it works singly over a dining table or in a living room. White is the quieter option and lets the shape carry the piece on its own; black is graphic and defines a strong outline against a pale ceiling. The solid metal shade directs all its light downwards, so this works as genuine task lighting over a table or a worktop rather than only as a decorative object.

Bulb is not included. Because the shade is open at the bottom, a frosted bulb is more comfortable to sit beneath than a clear one, and a bulb that runs cool should be used in the smaller size. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician, and the ceiling fixing must be rated for the weight of the fitting.
