White Feather Ring Chandelier

White feathers massed around a ring frame, in a shallow profile that keeps the shade wide rather than deep. The ring form is what separates this from a full feather dome: the light comes down through the open centre as well as through the plumes, so it is considerably brighter than a solid feather shade and can genuinely light a whole room.

Two sizes are offered. At 50 by 14 cm it works over a bedside, a hallway or a smaller dining table, and in a bedroom it is the right scale to be soft rather than theatrical. At 60 by 17 cm it has the spread to be the main feature of a living room or over a dining table. In both, the feather does something no manufactured shade can: the edges catch and glow, the depth of the plume shows, and the shade appears to move very slightly even when it is completely still.

Natural feather varies in length, curl and density between pieces. Bulbs are not included. Feather is combustible: use only bulbs that run cool, do not exceed the maximum wattage marked on the fitting, and keep the shade well clear of heaters and open flames. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
