The layers are the choice that matters here. A single layer is a flat disc of glass, 11 cm deep, in 25, 35 or 45 cm across. Two layers stack that form into a 22 cm-deep fixture; three reach 33 cm. Each added layer roughly doubles the visual weight without widening the footprint, which is how you get presence in a room that has no width to spare.
Colour changes the character more than the shape does. Amber warms everything it lights and reads as period; green is the most unusual of the three and turns the fixture into a genuine feature; smoke grey is the restrained option, closest to neutral and easiest to place. All three are translucent rather than opaque, so the bulb remains part of the effect.
The range of places it works is unusually wide: kitchens, bedrooms, living rooms, corridors, bathrooms, bars and coffee shops.
