Wood and Fabric Japandi Wall Sconce
A softly textured fabric shade in a warm neutral tone mounted on a natural wood body, arranged as a geometric composition rather than a conventional arm and shade. The two materials are doing exactly what Japandi design asks of them: the wood supplies warmth and structure, the fabric supplies softness and diffusion, and nothing else is added.
Wall sconces are the most underused fittings in most homes, and a piece like this shows why they are worth having. Mounted beside a bed it gives a warm reading light and frees the whole surface of a nightstand. In a hallway it lights the wall rather than the floor, which makes a corridor feel wider. Above a sofa or a reading chair it puts light where you actually need it in the evening without a ceiling fitting flooding the whole room. Used in a pair either side of a bed, a mirror or a fireplace it reads as deliberate and balanced.
Wood is a natural material, so grain and tone vary between pieces, and fabric shades vary slightly in weave. Bulb is not included; use a bulb that runs cool and keep it clear of the fabric. Mount securely into a suitable wall fixing. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
