White Woven Rattan Pendant Light
A white finish over a natural rattan weave, in a squared proportion: 40 x 40 cm and 50 x 50 cm, as deep as they are wide. That proportion matters. A shallow shade spreads light and a deep one focuses it, and an equal-sided one sits in the middle, giving a defined pool on the table and enough spill to keep the rest of the room from going dark.
The range of rooms it suits is unusually wide, and that is a function of the colour rather than the shape. White reads as neutral in a mid-century beach interior, as soft in a boho chic bedroom, as clean in a minimalist scheme and as restful in a maximalist one. It is one of the few fixtures that works in an eclectic room without either fighting the other pieces or vanishing entirely.
It also holds up as a boho shade over a kitchen island, in a country house, or in a covered outdoor area, though rattan is happiest indoors. Bulb not included; a warm white LED is essential here, since a cool bulb through a white weave looks like an office. Keep it dry, and dust it with a soft brush; a white finish shows marks sooner than a natural one.
