Modern Wooden Fan with Glass Shades

ABS blades are worth understanding rather than dismissing. Solid wood blades look better but they warp with humidity and they are heavy, which puts more load on the motor and the fixing. ABS with a wood-effect finish stays true, weighs less and takes the wood look without any of the movement, which matters on a fan that runs for months at a time.

The lampshades here are plain glass rather than shaped, which keeps the fixture noticeably quieter visually than the flower-shaded versions in the same family. Three or five of them ring the hub, and more shades give a more even output with less shadow from the blades when the fan is running. Three is enough for a bedroom; five suits a living room.

Two spans are offered, 34 inches at 86 cm for a small room and 42 inches at 106 cm for a standard one, each with a three or five light version. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician, and the ceiling fixing must be rated for the weight and movement of a fan. Indoor use only; wipe the glass and blades dry and check the fixings periodically.
