White Membrane Art Deco Pendant Light

A white polymer membrane stretched over a frame, which is a genuinely different approach to diffusion. A membrane is thinner and more even than fabric and far softer than glass, so it takes the hardness out of the light source completely and the whole surface glows uniformly with no bright point anywhere on it.

That is what the fitting is for. In a dining room or a bedroom the light it gives is welcoming rather than functional, with no glare and almost no shadow edge, which is exactly the quality wanted in a room used in the evening. Three sizes are offered, all of them shallow: 30 by 10 cm for a bedside, a hallway or a small room; 42 by 15 cm over a dining table or in a bedroom; and 52 by 18 cm as the main light in a living room. The shallow profile means all three work under a normal ceiling without hanging into the space, and the Art Deco proportions keep the outline crisp despite the softness of the light.

Each luminaire is handmade, so slight variation between pieces is normal. Bulb is not included; use a bulb that runs cool, as the membrane should not be exposed to sustained heat, and do not exceed the maximum wattage marked on the fitting. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
