A stepped, multi-tiered shade wrapped in real wood veneer, this chandelier borrows the outline of a pagoda roof and turns it into a light. The tiers stack outward as they descend, so from below you see a set of concentric rings and from the side a clean architectural silhouette. Because the veneer is genuine wood rather than a printed finish, the grain runs differently on every piece and warms up as soon as the light is on.
Light escapes between the tiers and reflects off the underside of each layer, which produces a diffused downward pool with no visible bulb and no glare at eye level. That makes it easier to live with over a dining table than a bare bulb or an open cage fixture, where the source sits in your sightline for the whole meal. At 60 cm wide and 42 cm tall it has enough presence for a six-seat table without crowding the room.
It suits Japandi, Scandinavian and warm-minimalist interiors, and pairs naturally with oak, walnut, linen and plaster finishes. Hang it about 75 to 85 cm above a dining table so the lower tier sits below the eye level of anyone seated. Use a warm white bulb, 2700K to 3000K, to bring out the grain; cool white flattens it. Indoor use only, and dust the tiers with a dry microfibre cloth.
