Spiral Wood Triangle Pendant Light

Rounded solid wood triangular frames stacked at precise offset angles, so the stack twists as it descends and the piece appears to rotate. The offsets are the whole design: get them wrong and it is a pile of triangles, get them right and the eye follows the spiral all the way down.

At 40 cm across and 20 cm deep it is a well-judged size for a real room, wide enough to hold a dining table or a kitchen island and shallow enough to stay clear of sightlines under a normal ceiling. Light escapes between every frame, so the fitting throws a fan of angular shadow onto the ceiling and the walls, which changes as you move around it. Two finishes are offered: natural, which is pale and Scandinavian, and coffee, which is darker and warmer and holds its own against stronger colours. Both come hardwired for a permanent installation or as a plug-in with a cable and in-line switch.

Wood is a natural material, so grain and tone vary between frames and between pieces. Bulb is not included; use a bulb that runs cool, keep it clear of the timber and do not fit a high-wattage bulb. Hardwired installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
