Solid Wood Bead Chain Pendant Light

Turned solid wood beads threaded onto a chain, hanging as a slim vertical line with the lamp at the base. There is no shade at all: the beads are the fitting, and what you get is a warm wooden column that reads as a piece of craft rather than a light.

Four lengths are offered, at 32, 34.5, 43 and 54 cm, sold individually as designs A to D, and there is also a set of four. The set is the interesting option, because hanging all four at their different lengths in a cluster over a dining table, a kitchen island or a stairwell gives you a staggered composition that no single fitting can match, and it costs less than buying them separately. Individually, each works over a bedside, a hallway console or a desk. The bead detail is what makes them: turned wood catches light along every curve, so the chain reads as a series of highlights rather than a flat stem.

Wood is a natural material, so grain and tone vary between beads and between pieces. Bulb is not included; energy-saving LED or incandescent bulbs of 60 W or less are recommended, and a bulb that runs cool should be used as the lamp sits close to the timber. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
