Slatted Wood Pumpkin Pendant Light

Premium wood slats formed into a soft pumpkin silhouette, with each slat curved and set at a precise interval around the shade. It is a piece of real joinery: the slats have to be shaped individually to produce a rounded form from straight timber, and the evenness of the spacing is what makes it look considered rather than crude.

The gaps between the slats are where the light gets out, so the fitting glows in vertical bands and throws a striped pattern onto the ceiling and the walls around it. That gives it a presence in a room that a solid shade cannot match, and it means the piece is doing something even when it is barely lit. Two finishes are offered: wood, which is pale, warm and Scandinavian, and coffee, which is considerably darker and holds its own against strong colours, dark cabinetry and older timber. Both suit a dining table, a kitchen island or a living room.

Wood is a natural material, so grain and tone vary between slats and between pieces, and no two shades are identical. Bulb is not included; use a bulb that runs cool, keep it clear of the timber and do not fit a high-wattage bulb. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician, and the ceiling fixing must be rated for the weight of the fitting.
