A true sphere is the hardest shape to weave, because every strand has to change direction continuously and there is no flat surface to work against. This one is built with a spiral technique, the strands winding around the globe rather than crossing it, which is what allows it to hold a clean round profile without a visible internal frame. It is the detail that separates it from a rough basket.

The spiral also decides what happens at night. Because the strands run continuously rather than in a grid, the light escapes in curved bands that wrap the ceiling instead of a static square lattice, and the pattern shifts as you move under it. Two finishes are offered: natural, which glows warm and even, and black, which holds a much sharper contrast between the lit strands and the gaps.

Four sizes run 30, 40, 50 and 60 cm. The 30 cm works in pairs or threes; the 60 cm is a single architectural focal point for a dining table or a stairwell. Bulb not included; a warm white LED suits both finishes. Indoor use only, since rattan swells in damp air. Dust with a dry soft brush, working around the spiral rather than against it.
