A wire birdcage frame with hand-woven rattan cane webbing set into it: two materials that have almost nothing in common, which is exactly why the combination works. The wire supplies a bold geometric outline that holds its shape precisely; the cane supplies warmth and texture inside it. Neither would be nearly as interesting on its own at this scale.
The frame is left open at the ends, which is the detail that makes it usable as a main light. Light flows freely upward and downward through those openings rather than being contained, so the fixture lights a room properly while the cane webbing at the sides breaks the horizontal spill into a fine grid. You get structure and transparency at the same time.
Two finishes are offered: black, which reads graphic and holds the mid-century reference firmly, and gold, which warms the frame and pushes it closer to the cane.
