Polka Dot Cylinder Chandelier in Black and Gold

Hand-finished polka dot cylinder shades on gracefully arched gold arms, this is a chandelier that takes its cue from fashion rather than from architecture. The dots are printed across a black ground so the shades read as solid and graphic from a distance and reveal the pattern up close, which is a far better result than a pattern that shouts from across the room.

Three configurations are offered. The three-light version is the one for a dining table, a hallway or a bedroom, and it keeps the piece as an accent. Six lights spreads the shades wider and turns it into a proper centrepiece for a living room or a larger dining space. Eight lights is a statement fitting for a big room or an entrance hall with the height to carry it. Fabric shades diffuse light more gently than glass, so despite the drama of the design the light itself is soft and flattering, which makes it well suited to a room used mainly in the evening.

Shades are finished by hand, so slight variation in the dot pattern between them is normal. Bulbs are not included. Keep fabric shades clear of heat and use bulbs that run cool. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician, and the ceiling fixing must be rated for the full weight of the chandelier.
