Smoked glass does something clear glass cannot: it lets you see the bulb without being dazzled by it. The grey tint cuts the intensity of the filament while keeping it visible, so you get the look of an exposed bulb with none of the glare. That is why smoked shades keep turning up over dining tables and kitchen islands, where people sit facing them.
Three configurations are offered. A single light, at 23 x 20 cm, is the version for a bedside, a hallway or a run you build yourself. Three lights in a long arrangement suit a rectangular table or a counter; three in a round cluster work better in the centre of a room or a stairwell where the fixture is seen from all sides.
The cord is 100 cm and adjustable, so it covers a standard ceiling and a high one without you having to specify at purchase. The Nordic styling is plain enough for a modern kitchen, living room or bedroom, and the grey tint sits comfortably against both pale and dark walls.
