The moon globe lamp is a single sphere wound from natural hemp fibre, and the appeal is what the fibre does to the light. Thousands of overlapping strands break the output into a soft, cloudy glow with no visible bulb and no hard edge, so the lamp reads more like a small moon resting on the floor than a light fixture. The surface texture is irregular by nature, which means no two orbs are identical.
Seven diameters run from 20 cm, small enough for a bedside table or a shelf, up to 60 cm, which is a floor piece that anchors a corner on its own. The mid sizes, 30 cm and 35 cm, work well in pairs at different heights, or grouped in threes beside a sofa. The frame holds its shape without a rigid inner shell, and the 1.8 m hardwired cord gives enough slack to reach a socket behind furniture.
Use a warm white LED bulb at 2700K to keep the fibre looking golden rather than grey, and keep the wattage low so the shade stays cool. This is an indoor lamp: hemp fibre absorbs moisture, so avoid bathrooms, conservatories and covered terraces. Dust it with a dry soft brush or the upholstery attachment on a vacuum at low suction, and never wipe it with a damp cloth.
