Two drum shades nested one inside the other, both wrapped in textured natural linen. The double layer is the whole design: the outer drum holds the silhouette, the inner one catches and softens the light before it reaches the room, and the gap between them glows where the two overlap.
Linen is the right fabric for this. It has a visible weave and a slight irregularity that a synthetic never has, so the shade reads as a real material rather than a manufactured surface, and it warms the light on the way through. Four sizes are offered. At 40 by 30 cm it works over a bedside or a hallway; 50 by 32 cm over a smaller dining table; 60 by 36 cm is the everyday choice for a dining table or a living room; and 80 by 40 cm is a substantial centrepiece for a large table or an open-plan space. The result in all sizes is warm minimalism: nothing decorative, but a lot of texture.
Linen is a natural fabric, so tone and weave vary between pieces. Bulb is not included; use a bulb that runs cool, keep it clear of the fabric and do not fit a high-wattage bulb. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician, and the ceiling fixing must be rated for the weight of the fitting.
