Iron Ring Pendant Light in Gold or Black

A clean iron ring, 40 cm across and 21 cm deep, with nothing on it at all. Fittings like this live or die on proportion, and this one gets it right: wide enough to read as deliberate over a table, shallow enough to stay clear of anyone's sightline across a room with a standard ceiling.

Two finishes are offered and they do opposite things. Gold warms the light as it reflects off the inside of the ring, so what lands below is noticeably softer, and it sits well with walnut, brass and off-white walls. Black is graphic and disappears against a dark ceiling while defining a strong outline against a pale one, and it suits an industrial or Nordic scheme with concrete, steel or dark cabinetry. The fitting works singly over a dining table or a hallway console, and in a pair or a row over a kitchen island where the repetition does more than one alone.

Bulb is not included. Because the ring is open, a frosted bulb is more comfortable to sit beneath than a clear one, and a warm bulb suits the gold finish better than a cool white. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician, and the ceiling fixing must be rated for the weight of the fitting.
