Curved Wood Veneer Wave Pendant Light
Precision-moulded wood veneer formed into a fluid wave canopy, open at the centre so the shape reads as a ribbon suspended in air rather than a solid shade. Moulding veneer into a compound curve like this is skilled work, and it is the reason the piece looks like a sculpture rather than a lampshade.
Three sizes are offered and they serve very different purposes. At 39 by 18 cm it is a compact fitting for a bedside, a hallway or a breakfast bar, and works well in a pair. At 60 by 21 cm it is the everyday choice over a dining table or a kitchen island. At 85 by 30 cm it is an architectural statement for a large dining table or an open-plan room, and needs the space around it to be appreciated. Because the canopy is open, light escapes upwards as well as down, so the ceiling above is lit as well as the surface below, which makes the fitting feel far lighter than its size suggests.
Wood veneer is a natural material, so grain, tone and the exact set of each curve vary between pieces. Bulb is not included; use a bulb that runs cool, keep it clear of the veneer and do not fit a high-wattage bulb. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician, and in the largest size the ceiling fixing must be rated for the full weight and span.
