Curved wood veneer ribbons wound into a teardrop-onion silhouette, each ribbon twisting as it rises so the form appears to be in motion. It is genuinely difficult to make: veneer has to be steamed and formed to hold a curve like this, and the result is a piece of joinery as much as a light fitting.
The gaps between the ribbons are what make it work as a light. They let the glow escape in swirling bands rather than a flat wash, so the fitting throws a moving, organic pattern onto the ceiling and the nearest wall, and the shade itself glows along every curve. Two finishes are offered: natural wood, which is pale, Scandinavian and quiet, and coffee, which is darker and richer and holds its own against strong colours and dark timber. It suits a dining table above all, where the twist can be seen from below and from the side at once, and works equally in a stairwell or a living room corner.
Wood veneer is a natural material, so grain, tone and the exact set of each curve vary between pieces and no two shades are identical. Bulb is not included; use a bulb that runs cool, keep it clear of the veneer and do not fit a high-wattage bulb. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
