Modern Slim Column Bedside Lamp
18 cm wide and 49 cm tall, which is nearly three times taller than it is broad. That is a column rather than a lamp with a shade on top, and the proportion is the whole design: it takes almost no surface area, it stands well above a cluttered nightstand, and it reads as a vertical line in a room rather than as a horizontal mass.
Four colours are offered at the same price and they cover a genuine range rather than four shades of one idea. Dark green is the most restrained and the most adult; white recedes entirely; orange and pink are the ones that make the lamp the subject of whatever surface it stands on. All four are metal, which takes colour cleanly and evenly.
The height puts the source above eye level for anyone seated, so the light comes down onto a desk or a bedside table rather than across the room at whoever is sitting opposite. Bulbs are not included, since the lamp travels better without one; energy-saving LED or incandescent bulbs of 60 W or less are recommended. Indoor use. Wipe the metal with a soft dry cloth, avoiding abrasives on the colour finish.
