UFO Opal Glass Flush Mount Light

A shallow opal glass dome on a slim metal ring, taking the retro-futuristic flying saucer outline and reducing it to its cleanest possible form. There is no detailing and no ornament, only the curve of the glass and the line of the metal, which is why it reads equally well in a mid-century house and in a plain modern flat.

Opal glass is what makes it work in practice. It hides the bulb completely and turns the fitting into an evenly lit disc, so there is no bright point to look at from below. That matters most in exactly the rooms this is designed for: a corridor, an entryway, a landing or a stairwell, where you walk under the light and look straight up at it far more often than you would in a living room. Three metal finishes are offered against the milky white glass: gold for warmth, chrome for a cooler and more Bauhaus reading, and black for a graphic outline against a pale ceiling.

Glass is finished individually, so slight variation in tone is normal. Bulb is not included. Intended for indoor use in dry locations only. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician, and the fitting should not be installed where it would be exposed to direct water.
