Large 80cm Rattan Pendant Light

At 80 cm this is one of the largest woven shades you can reasonably hang in a domestic room, and the size is the whole proposition. A pendant this wide changes the proportions of a dining room: it fills the space above the table, gives the ceiling a centre, and makes a long table read as a single considered piece rather than as furniture floating in a room.

Scale like this needs structure, which is why the natural woven shade is built over a sturdy inner frame. Without it, a shade of this diameter would sag out of round within a year. The frame also lets the weave stay relatively open, since it does not have to carry the shape on its own, so the fixture still lets light through the sides rather than blocking it.

Two sizes are offered, 60 cm and 80 cm. The 60 cm suits a standard dining table or a living room; the 80 cm needs a long table, a wide island or a covered patio with height. The mid-century inspired silhouette is timeless enough to survive changes of taste around it. Bulb not included; use a warm white LED. Keep it under cover outdoors, and dust with a dry soft brush.
