Large Rice Paper Desktop Table Lamp

40 cm wide and 60 cm tall, which puts this at the upper limit of what still counts as a table lamp. At that size the paper shade lights a good part of a room on its own, and it stops being an accent on a console and becomes the thing you notice when you walk in. It needs a surface with room around it rather than a crowded nightstand.

Three adjustable colour temperatures is the feature that makes the size workable. A large paper shade at a fixed warm setting is lovely in the evening and useless in the afternoon; being able to switch to a neutral or cool tone means the same lamp works for reading, for working and for winding down without you needing a second light.

Rice paper diffuses completely, so at every setting the shade glows evenly with no visible bulb and no glare, which is what makes a lamp this large comfortable to sit beside. It suits a living room, a dining room, a bedroom or a child's room. Indoor use, and keep the paper away from damp. Dust it with a dry soft brush, never a damp cloth, which will mark it permanently.
