Resin Hand Wall Lamp

A cast resin hand emerging from the wall, holding the light. It is a piece of retro industrial theatre in a very small package, 15 cm wide and 12 cm high, and it is deliberately more of an object than a light fitting: the light is the excuse, the sculpture is the point.

Left and right hand versions are offered, which matters more than it sounds. A pair mounted facing each other either side of a mirror, a doorway or a bed reads as deliberate and balanced; a single one on its own reads as a curiosity. At this size it works in the places a full sconce would be too much: beside a mirror, along a narrow corridor, in an alcove, at the top of a stair, or in a child's room where the shape is the whole appeal. The resin is finished in a natural tone that catches shadow well, so the hand has definition on the wall even in daylight.

Cast by hand, so slight variation in surface and tone is normal. Bulb is not included; energy-saving LED or incandescent bulbs of 60 W or less are recommended, and a bulb that runs cool should be used. Mount securely into a suitable wall fixing, and in a child's room out of reach. Where used in a bathroom it must be installed only in a position permitted by the wiring regulations in your country and never where it would be exposed to direct water or spray.
