Handwoven Rattan Pendant Light

Rattan woven by hand into a rounded shade, in two sizes that cover most of the places a pendant is actually needed. Rattan is the material that has kept this style in fashion for a decade, and the reason is simple: it is warm, it is textured, it is genuinely natural, and it softens a room that has too much hard surface in it.

At 35 by 28 cm the shade suits a bedside, a hallway, a breakfast bar or a smaller dining table, and it works particularly well in a pair or a row of three at slightly different drops. At 43 by 33 cm it has the presence to be the main fitting over a dining table or in a living room. In both sizes the weave lets light through the sides as well as the bottom, so the fitting glows rather than simply pointing downwards, and it throws a soft irregular pattern of shadow across the ceiling. Against white plaster, linen, pale timber and terracotta it does what it is meant to do; in a plain modern room it supplies the one natural element that stops the space feeling cold.

Made from rattan. Direct wired, 110V-240V, E27 bulb base, CE and UL certified. Bulb is not included. Rattan is natural, so colour, grain and weave vary between pieces. Use a bulb that runs cool and keep it clear of the weave. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
