Calling a lampshade art is usually a stretch. Here the claim is at least arguable, because the weave is worked into a structure rather than a simple surface: the rattan forms an openwork pattern with real depth to it, which changes as you move around the fixture rather than presenting a single flat face. Switched off, it still reads as an object worth looking at, which is a fair test.
Two sizes are offered, 60 cm and 80 cm, both large enough to work as the sole feature in a room. At that scale the openwork does something a small shade cannot: the shadows it throws cover most of a ceiling and reach down the walls, so the whole room takes on the pattern rather than just the area beneath the fixture.
The oriental influence in the weave suits it to rustic, country and retro rooms as readily as to a plain modern one. Both sizes are available hardwired or plug-in. Bulbs are not included, since a woven shade travels badly with one fitted; energy-saving LED or incandescent bulbs of 60 W or less are recommended. Indoor use only, and dust with a dry soft brush.
