Sustainable bamboo slats laid side by side into a shallow saucer, 60 cm across and 30 cm deep, with the slats running in parallel lines rather than a woven mesh. That linear construction is what separates this from the basket-style shades: the shade has a clean architectural rhythm to it, and the shadows it throws are straight lines rather than a scattered pattern.
The proportion is well judged for a real room. Sixty centimetres is wide enough to hold a dining table or a kitchen island on its own, and 30 cm deep keeps the fitting clear of sightlines across the table. Light escapes between the slats as well as through the mouth, so the shade glows along its ribs and the ceiling above it picks up a fan of soft lines. In a Nordic or Japandi room it reads as considered and restrained; in a plain modern one it supplies warmth and texture without any rustic overtones. Available hardwired for a permanent installation or as a plug-in with a cable and in-line switch.
Bamboo is a natural, fast-growing material, so colour and grain vary between slats and between pieces. Bulb is not included; use a bulb that runs cool and keep it clear of the slats. Hardwired installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician, and the ceiling fixing must be rated for the weight of the fitting.
