Wood Slat Fin Pendant Light

Precision-cut wooden slats set on edge like fins around a rounded pumpkin silhouette. Setting the slats on edge rather than flat is what gives the shade its structure: each fin catches light along its edge, and the gaps between them let the glow out in vertical bands rather than a flat wash.

Two sizes and two finishes are offered. At 43 by 22.5 cm it works over a breakfast bar, a bedside or a smaller dining table, and a pair or a row of three over an island is where it looks best. At 55 by 28.5 cm it has the presence to be the single fitting over a dining table or in a living room. Natural wood is pale and Scandinavian; dark wood is warmer and holds its own against strong colours and dark cabinetry. Both come hardwired for a permanent installation or as a plug-in with a cable and in-line switch, which makes them straightforward in a rented flat.

Wood is a natural material, so grain and tone vary between slats and between pieces, and no two shades are identical. Bulb is not included; use a bulb that runs cool, keep it clear of the timber and do not fit a high-wattage bulb. Hardwired installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
