A gourd, or a pear: the shade swells low and narrows towards the top, so the widest part sits close to the base rather than at the shoulder. It is a sweeping, continuous curve with no straight sections at all, which is difficult to weave properly and gives the fixture a fluid quality that a dome or a drum simply cannot produce.
The slats are premium natural rattan, laid so the grain follows the curve rather than crossing it, which keeps the profile clean when the light is on and the weave is backlit. A sleek matte black canopy holds it, and the contrast between the hard fitting and the organic shade is the modern half of the Japandi reference; the material is the other half of it.
Two sizes are offered, 40 x 54 cm and 50 x 55 cm, both considerably taller than they are wide. That suits a dining table, a hallway, a kitchen island or a stairwell where the vertical form has room to be seen. Bulb not included; a warm white LED brings out the slats. Indoor use only, since rattan absorbs moisture. Dust along the curve with a dry soft brush.
