Double-Layer Hand-Woven Bamboo Pendant

This is a nested design rather than a single shade: a fine inner mesh that diffuses the light softly, held inside a bold wide-weave outer dome. The two layers do different jobs. The inner mesh takes the glare off the bulb so the fitting is comfortable to sit under, while the open outer weave casts the strong graphic shadow pattern that makes a woven pendant worth having in the first place.

Two sizes are offered. The 45 by 30 cm version suits a breakfast table, a bedside or a hallway, or works well in a pair over a smaller island. The 60 by 45 cm version is substantial enough to anchor a full dining table or a kitchen island on its own, and it is the size to choose if the pendant is meant to be the focal point of the room. Both are available hardwired or as a plug-in with a cable and switch. The natural bamboo tone works with white walls, terracotta, linen and pale timber, and stops a minimalist room from feeling cold.

Bamboo is a natural material, so colour, grain and weave vary between pieces and no two are identical. Bulb is not included. Use bulbs that run cool and keep them clear of the inner mesh. Hardwired installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
